Squishmallows × McDonald's

Who?
Squishmallows is a collectible plush brand known for its soft, rounded designs, often compared to Ty Beanie Babies due to its wide variety and rarity-based releases. At the height of its popularity (2020–2023), McDonald’s partnered with the brand to offer mini Squishmallows in Happy Meals, featuring randomized collectible designs.
Why?
This project relaunches the Squishmallows × McDonald’s partnership, but through “State Squishmallows,” a collection of 50 state-themed plush toys released over ten weeks to encourage repeat purchases and collector engagement. As a pivot, I developed a smaller-scale concept featuring nine planet-themed Squishmallows released over two weeks, maintaining the same collectible appeal in a more streamlined format.
How?
Each design incorporates elements like state animals, state seals, and symbolic accessories, along with custom names and bios that reflect their identities; the same approach is applied to the planet-themed series. The project also includes collectible sticker sheets to track progress and campaigns promoting both the state and planet collections.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This project demonstrates my use of AI as a tool to help bring ideas to life. I believe in full and clear disclosure of AI use throughout my portfolio. AI was used only for the base 3D renderings, while all core designs, edits, and final compositions were created by me.
